I Own These was created out of a need to manage a list of movies more easily. Recently I upgraded to a new computer and found that I hadn't backed everything up. I had an older list of movies that I owned, but it was about 9 months shy of the complete list. With over 200 DVD's and only about 100 or so on the list, I was annoyed that I had to re-type out the list. I figured I would create a section on my own weblog to display my list.

While I started to type it out, I thought, wow, this would be so much easier if I had a script to print it out. No HTML code to modify, no guessing where a movie fit in alaphabetically, all of it done with only a few lines of code.

Then I realized that some other people had lists on their website of CD's and Books so I thought, I should offer a central place for everyone to do this at. And that is the story behind I Own These.
